The Octagon Community

Basically, during the day on October 30 and 31st, it's gonna be hard to get off Roosevelt Island. A couple notices for you:

- On Tuesday October 30, 2007 & Wednesday October 31, 2007 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., a temporary lane reversal will be established on the Roosevelt Island Bridge for the purpose of installing the above roadway painting containment system on the lift span.
- NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agents will be deployed at 36th Avenue and Vernon Boulevard to mitigate vehicular traffic.

I am not normally one to push for contributions to the general public. But, I felt that many of you would take heart to this one.
The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation is the official foundation responsible for overseeing the World Trade Center Memorial.
They are looking for donations and so far, they have actually been very successful.
With that said, one of the donation models is arrange grass roots campaigns amongst friends, family or communities.
One of the drivers for donations is their "Buy a Cobblestone Campaign".

OK. I am tired of the SPAM like everyone else. I am in the process of cleaning up the existing SPAM. Jeof and I will look into adding auto-verification systems to the account creation process, similar to what many of you may have experienced on other sites, where you are asked to type a series of letters and numbers from an image. This process proves you are a "human being" and not a "program" automatically generating accounts and thus telling everyone about your 75% off deal for Viagra.

Summer's almost over - and so is the pool season

Jump in while you can - the Pool will close on Tuesday September 4th for the season.

I apologize for the spam as of late. Both Alex and I have been pretty busy this summer, but as Fall approaches and many new people move into the Octagon, things will pick up 'round here and around the community.

Fall's coming, and with it:

- Find others to for a game of Football or Soccer
- Parents - meet up during the day for lunch while the kids play on the playground or Kids room on the third floor
- Workout buddies anyone?
- The return of Game Night - or find people to swindle in a game of Poker or Pool
- Movie night anyone?

Based on discussions between RIRA and RIOC, the following changes to the Red Bus routing are effective Monday, June 25, 2007:

Management says the key fob system has been updated. All fobs should be functioning properly.

If you are having a problem accessing any entrance with your current fob, please contact the Management Office with the number on the back of your fob. Please identify the location(s) you had trouble at, as well, so we may investigate.

If you are in need of a key fob, please contact the Management Office. Additional supplies are on order and will be in by this week. Management will be able to program one for you at that time.

UPDATE: AND IS OPEN ALL SUMMER

Dear Residents:
The schedule for the pool has been revised. Beginning this Saturday, May 26, the pool will be open seven days a week from 10:00AM through 8:00PM. This schedule will continue through the Labor Day Holiday Weekend.
